Converse Renew

Challenge

To design and produce a series of activations in Coal Drops Yard for the launch of the Chuck 70 Renew Canvas.

Solution

The Chuck 70 Renew Canvas shoes are crafted from 100% recycled polyester from used plastic bottles, so it was essential that sustainability was embedded throughout, from the guest experience right down to the kit used to style the space.

Training sessions were held for Converse retailers using flexible furniture which could be used as benches as well as display tables making them interchangeable and flexible.

The space was open to the public for interactive sessions with Lava La Rue and her DIY art collective NiNE8 and Precious Plastics. Using clothing donations from Shelter, Lava La Rue ran customisation and up-cycling workshops educating guests on the effects of Fast Fashion, whilst Jason Markk, the world’s most trusted brand in premium shoe care, was on hand to give old Converse shoes a new lease of life.

Over 500 guests visited to renew or recycle their clothing and shoes.

DIY workshops with Lava La Rue raised over £2,000 for the local Shelter store. The kit produced was re-used at two further projects.
